So Here We Are

We have never felt hopelessly hungry
We can’t even imagine dying of thirst
We live within a circle, never cross that boundary
Out of our depth we were never immersed

So here we are
Gathered together
Here we are
Wonderful weather

Tonight when the lights are out
A blue horror will keep us amused
In our minds there is a nagging doubt
Perhaps fact and fiction are fused

We were never taught how to light a fire
Out in the wild for food to hunt
For what we consume we did not perspire
No wonder our senses became blunt

So here we are
Gathered together
Here we are
At the end of our tether

Perhaps you know what on earth this is all about
I can tell as much now, I am not amused
Some are pushing like mad, others shout
This is no cricket, I tell you, there is no excuse

We all like discipline, observe the law, have manners
We dislike thinking we’re not so well versed
We give nothing for nothing, never hold a banner
With lack of commitment we are cursed or blessed

 So here we are
Gathered together
We want to yell and jar
But instead talk about the weather

Don’t try to turn me inside out
To make me express how I feel, I refuse.
If you stab into my heart blood will not spout
Just don’t go too deep. It’s no use

Now we want a break, can take no more
Sell the house dear or change décor
Maybe go on holiday, life is bore
Stick to what you know don’t ask what for

So here we are
Gathered together
Looking bizarre
Strapped in chain and leather
